Why are Blue Orchids known as the cult band's cult band?

Well perhaps they are known as the cult band's cult band, primarily because of classic recordings made for Rough Trade in the 1980's, Blue Orchids' back catalogue receives regular airplay not only in Britain, but also in the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan.

Aztec Camera and Sonic Youth are among those who have covered their songs, and several bands (Inspiral Carpets, Primal Scream, Julian Cope, Pulp)' have cited them as an influence.
